A few days ago Facebook announced quite harsh restrictions on its publishing APIs: if we take the announcement to the letter, it means that publishing photos (and generally, any kind of content) from a desktop application will become impossible.

These changes will come into effect on August 1st, but don’t despair: first of all, it may be that some alternative API will appear in the meantime and replace the deprecated ones; and secondly, the announced changes don’t affect the content published to a Facebook page. In other words, if you are using PhotoTeleport to publish your photos to a Facebook page, nothing will change for you.

Let’s see how the situation evolves; in the worst situation, PhotoTeleport will lose its ability to post content into your own photostream; this might therefore be a good time to create yourself a nice Facebook page for your photography activity, and that will continue to work even after this summer.
